This week’s Friday Five (hosted by Mar, Courtney and Cynthia) theme is actually “5 Things I Did This Summer” but my summer was actually kind of boring, so I decided I’d write a post on the five best birthdays I’ve had! As an adult, I’ve made it a point to have some pretty epic birthday celebrations. Some people I know don’t do anything for their birthdays (and I know that when you have kids you stop focusing so much on yourself), but I think it’s important to celebrate yourself!
1) My first family cruise!
Granted, this wasn’t just for my birthday, but we did go two weeks before my birthday, so it counts 😉 This was an amazing trip- we ziplined in Jamaica, had wonderful jerk chicken, saw dolphins in the Cayman Islands and shopped in Mexico! I can’t think of a better family vacation! I enjoyed it so much that I took a…
2) Second birthday cruise!
This was actually for my birthday. We left the day after my birthday for a three day trip to the Bahamas. I didn’t like the beaches down here as much as I liked the Cayman Islands, but we had a blast parasailing and hanging out on deck!
3) Orlando trip (s)
I’ve been to Orlando a lot and we usually go around my birthday. Of course when Harry Potter world opened up at Universal I bought season passes so I could go drink butterbeer whenever I wanted! This past year we went again and had a great time- even though we weren’t able to ride half the rides due to rain!
4) Riding in the Disney parade
Though this does classify as an Orlando trip, for my 23rd birthday I went to Disney with my best friend (who shares the same birthday as me). We got to ride in the parade at Animal Kingdom and of course I danced with Rafiki! Asante sana squash banana…
5) A totally relaxing spa weekend for my 25th
I wanted to do something special for my 25th birthday, so my friends and I took a weekend and went to a hotel with a spa! We all went out for dinner for my birthday and then got massages and hung out by the pool the next day. It was very relaxing! (Sorry the pictures are blurry here- my camera was messed up!)
I just turned 29 this past weekend and I can’t wait to see what the next decade has in store for my birthdays! (It’s also really weird to talk about the “next decade”).
Have you had fun birthdays? Ever taken a cruise or girls weekend trips? Does it feel weird to talk about your age?
