Hi guys- I know some of you have been asking what happened to my site. Without going into a long story, I basically took a break from blogging- and running for a while.
My break from running…
Was for a lot of reasons. Primarily, I think I burned out on running after a loaded spring race calendar. There were a lot of races and my last one in May (Battlefrog Atlanta) took a lot out of me, emotionally, mentally and physically. I needed a break in order to learn to love running again.
That break turned from a few weeks into about a month and a half. I didn’t even train for the Mud Endeavor Under the Lights Race that I did a few weeks ago. My motivation was completely lost.
Luckily I just started a new training plan- the RunFit365 basic half marathon training plan. It was recommended to me by my friend Krystal after she used it for her spring training with some awesome PR’s, so I thought I’d give it a try. I have to say it feels great to be back out there running regularly! Maybe the temporary break was just what I needed to get back in the swing of things for fall race season. It helps that I also just got new socks from Pro Compression too- it’s the little things 🙂
My break from blogging…
Basically when I became unmotivated to run, I also wasn’t motivated to blog. My blog primarily deals with running and racing and since I wasn’t running or racing- I didn’t have much to write about. I think I may have needed a blogging break too. I just didn’t intend for it to become such a cluster ****.
The short version of the story is that I had some issues with my hosting with GoDaddy and decided to switch over to BlueHost. Well, when I deactivated my hosting plan with GoDaddy, apparently they misunderstood and decided to deactivate EVERYTHING on the account- including my domain name and website entirely. So when I called today, they told me that there was no way to get my website back and I would have to start over. They were able to reinstate my domain name (since I did pay for two years of a registered domain) but because they reinstated it, a 60 day lock for transferring came with it. So now I’m working with them to unlock the domain name so I can officially transfer everything over. I can honestly say this has been a horrendous, headache inducing process and more than one time I’ve dissolved into tears on my couch trying to figure this out.
So this isn’t the final version of my “new” blog; I’m currently in the process of redoing my site and setting everything up. I appreciate the continued support from everyone as I get everything situated! Hopefully sooner rather than later because I have a lot going on and I need to get this underway.
What else has been going on…
In the meantime, I’ve still been hanging out and having fun with friends during my running break! At the end of last month, I went to my friend Jane’s birthday dinner. It was great to see her again- it’s been about a year since we’ve hung out!
I also went to my friend Lindsey’s bachelorette party last weekend- she’s getting married tomorrow!
So despite all the headaches I’ve had over this site, it’s been a relatively fun summer :-).
What have you been up to this summer? Have you ever taken an “extended” break (voluntarily) from running?
