Halloween has always been a favorite holiday of mine. When I was little I dressed up in lots of different costumes.
Because I was so obsessed with the Little Mermaid (my first movie obsession), I went as Ariel two years in a row.
I obviously had an obsession with lots of Disney characters- my “thing” for bad guys started early! I also have no idea who is in the picture with me- I think this was a girl scout Halloween party so probably someone who was in my troop with me.
One of my first costumes in high school was a pirate. My brother went as Scream. I remember one year I wanted to be the Grim Reaper (yet again, bad guys) but my father was totally against his daughter dressing in a “non-girly” costume. Sigh.
Even as an adult, I’ve had lots of fun dressing up in Halloween costumes. When I became “too old” for trick-or-treating I started going out to Halloween parties at bars with friends. Of course, I went through the “skanky costume” college phase. I don’t have any pictures of these costumes (thank goodness haha!) because I deleted my original Facebook account and they were all on that one.
For a while, I didn’t do much for Halloween. This post came from 2012, when I went to visit my best friend for Halloween. She was going through a rough time then, so we decided to stay in and hang out.
Starting in 2013, I met my current three best friends, who all love to dress up for Halloween! In 2013, I went as a Flapper, Alex was Kat Von D (she rocked that look!) and Lindsey was Pikachu.
Then we started doing themed costumes- Once Upon a Time Characters was in 2014.
This year, we decided to do the Power Rangers. I don’t have any photos of that yet, as we haven’t taken pics yet! But they’ll be posted on my Instagram when I do!
I think I’m starting to prefer house parties for Halloween- we can still dress up, the food is much cheaper than going out (and so is the alcohol!) and there’s plenty of room to sit and relax when we get tired of standing. There’s a possibility I would go out for Halloween again, but we will have to see how tired (and old!) I am!
Halloween has always been a fun time for me, and I hope it continues to be in the future! I can’t imagine not doing something for this holiday!
Do you celebrate Halloween? What are some of your favorite costumes you’ve worn?
