Skirt Sports Review and GIVEAWAY!! #ConverttoSkirt

I’ve been meaning to write a review and get my giveaway started for Skirt Sports Peek-a-Boo skirt– one of the new products that came out in their fall line! I’ve been lazy lately and keep putting things off that I know I need to do. But you guys- Skirt Sports- seriously!

Earlier this year I had the chance to meet Nicole DeBoom- founder of Skirt Sports and Ironman Wisconsin winner! She's so awesome!
Earlier this year I had the chance to meet Nicole DeBoom- founder of Skirt Sports and Ironman Wisconsin winner! She’s so awesome!

When I first started running, I was a dedicated shorts runner. I loved the way they looked and since I’ve never had to deal with chafing, I didn’t experience the issue that many women complain about on their long runs- I know you hate me now. Honestly I didn’t even hear about Skirt or any type of running skirt companies until I went to my first Disney expo in October 2014 for the Tower of Terror 10 miler. Upon seeing the numerous runners in cute running skirts I thought, “Those are cute, but how good can it feel to run in a skirt?” I had no idea what I was about to get into.

Due to my association as an ambassador of Sweat Pink, I was able to purchase my first Skirt product- the Jette skirt- and review it on my old blog. Unfortunately that review was lost, so I can’t link to it, but my love for Skirt was born and has continued to grow. I became an ambassador for them and almost completely have converted to Skirt now! (I say almost because I still wear shorts during some of my mud runs- on top of not wanting to get the extra skirt material caught on something, I also don’t want to ruin my gorgeous skirts!)

For this review, I’m going to talk about the Peek-a-Boo skirt, as I said, a new product from their fall line. First of all, it comes in my FAVORITE color from their fall prints- the Safari print. Every time I’ve worn the safari print so far I’ve had an awesome run or race: from my first sub-30 5k of this season to the most recent accomplishment of many of the obstacles at Tough Mudder that I hadn’t previously been able to conquer.

The second thing I absolutely LOVE about these Skirts is the fact that they all have pockets! And their pockets are big enough to fit my iphone 6 plus!! You guys, I can’t stress how HUGE this is for me. When I first bought my phone, nothing fit it. There were no cases, no armbands, holders- NOTHING. So when I discovered that the phone fit in the pockets of my Skirts- it was only one more reason to buy another two or ten skirts! Not to mention that most women’s workout clothes don’t have pockets, so these can help you carry your gels, nutrition, chews, keys or whatever else you need to carry.

The Peek-a-Boo skirt has 5 inch built in compression shorties (those are in the awesome Safari print on the Skirt I have) and it has lightweight, breathable mesh skirt on top. There’s a pocket on each leg for functionality as well, so it’s sexy, comfortable and can be worn during the hot summer or a more mild winter like we experience here in Florida. I wore my skirt just this morning during a rainy run and, unlike other material that gets heavier when wet, it stayed light and I barely noticed that it was soaked with rain until I came home and had to take it off! I’ve also taken it through my most recent mud run- the Tough Mudder in Melbourne a few weeks ago. It held up wonderfully- and totally shattered my expectations. It didn’t stain or hold a lot of water. I’m definitely going to be wearing more Skirt products during my mud runs from now on.

    1. I was too- the pockets are definitely amazing! I can’t even describe how awesome it is to not have to stuff my accessories down my bra!

    1. They are perfect…I was sold even more when I realized the pockets expanded to hold the iphones.

  1. I love my skirts sports skirts, they’re the best. I run in the happy girl, but would love to see a shorter shorts one to see if it still stops the chafing for me!

    1. I haven’t had any issues with any length that I’ve tried- I have the 5″ shorts, 3″ shorts too.

    1. They have so many designs, you can wear them year round. I love all of the ones I’ve tried.

  2. Yes! Love my Gym Girl Ultra by SkirtSports! I would love to try the Peek-A-Boo, but love the box pleats on the Lioness!

  3. I haven’t run in a skirt since my high school field hockey days. Another SkirtSports design I admire is the gym girl ultra skirt.

  4. Through 3w I have found skirt sports also and I just ordered 3 skirt/capri combos today. Love them because they are way more fun to run in than just capris

    1. I didn’t think I’d like them until I started running in them- now it’s pretty much all I use!

    1. Tough Girl is pretty popular! I’ve heard great things about it, but haven’t tried it myself. I love the quality of all the skirts though, they are all amazing!

  5. I love to run in skirts, especially Sport Skirts (They are the best). I have been eyeing the Tough Girl, it’s on my wish list. Thanks for the giveaway. Hoping to do muy first mud run in 2016, they look like fun.

    1. I’ve heard great things about that jacket! It might be one of my next purchases from them 🙂
