What an awesome weekend! It felt like it took a long time to get here because I worked four double shifts the first week back from vacation- talk about a stressful week! The only day I could run was Wednesday evening, so I was pretty glad when the weekend got here and I had more time to do what I wanted to do!
Nothing special tonight; I worked and it was my last night working for the week. Nothing much got accomplished today, unless you count me catching a few Gastly’s and Bulbasaur’s while I’m at work as an accomplishment. 🙂
This morning started out bright and early with the downtown Fit2Run training group! I was recruited to help with the training run, so I showed up to the store at 5:45am to get ready. After a minor communication snafus (Kimmi didn’t have my new phone number and I didn’t have the old phone on me), we got everything straightened out and headed out for our run. I had planned on doing 5 or 6 miles to start with, as I haven’t been running much lately and didn’t want to overdo it. I ended up feeling pretty good and went for 6. It was a great morning for a run- the only issue I had was during the run when I was trying to hatch my Pokémon eggs the app kept shutting off because my skirt was rubbing up against the buttons on my phone. I need to figure out a way to disable the buttons on my Android phone so the app stays on in the background while I’m running- does anyone know how to do that??
Anyway, I saw this awesome sunrise coming over the bridge on my way back to the store.
After the run was over, I met Kimmi for breakfast at Word of Mouth. I had never been but plenty of people recommended it and I think I’ve found a new brunch spot! They had a special of tamales with pork and cheese- O.M.G. It was delicious. I originally thought I wanted bacon but this definitely hit the spot.
Then it was home to shower and get ready to go to the Pokémon BBQ that was happening at Mote Marine. The local Team Valor group planned a get together and BBQ day so we could all socialize with friends who also played Pokémon Go. I could only stay for an hour because I had a swim lesson that same afternoon but it was fun!
Next I drove over to Arlington Park to meet with my new swim coach, Karen Hall for our first swim session. She was very nice and patient with me. I learned that I do NOT suck at swimming! I thought I was going to be horrible because I’ve never learned how to swim before- I pretty much know how to keep myself from drowning and how to float but that’s it. However, she said I was much better than I thought and had a good idea of the basics but my technique just needs some refining. So we learned the breaststroke and freestyle.
Home to shower again and get ready for date night! I wanted to take a nap because I was so tired from being awake so early but I didn’t have time! The boyfriend and I went to JPAN Sushi and Grill, a new place that opened in Sarasota, for dinner. The food was pretty good but the service could have been better. I’m developing quite a taste for sushi- I never thought I’d like it but I actually really do! And it’s super filling…I don’t know what it is but I didn’t want to eat again until around 1 am!
We went home for a while and then headed to the Cinebistro to see War Dogs. It was an interesting movie. I would give it a solid B. I didn’t know if I’d be able to stay awake because the movie started at 10:30 but I managed. This is what it feels like to get older!!
Sunday was a relaxing day. We slept in and lounged around in our PJs for the major part of the morning. I did laundry but that was really the only productive thing I did all morning. Around lunch time we made our way into Bradenton and checked out Endurance House, a local triathlon store. I needed to pick up a pair of my own goggles for my swimming lessons and so I can practice on my own. I picked out some pretty purple ones! And I picked up some electrolyte drink mixes from Skratch Labs to try out too. I have a feeling I’m going to be spending a lot of time (and money) in this store over the next 8 months or so.
After leaving the shop, I headed off to St. Pete to meet up with a friend for a bit. We did quite a bit of Pokémon hunting in Vinoy Park and North Straub Park in St. Pete. It’s always more fun to hunt with friends! Then I headed back home to shower and get ready for work the next day! I’m planning on going to the pool to work some more on my freestyle stroke tomorrow after work, so I need to pack a bag with my swim stuff in it so I can just shoot over there after I get off. All in all, it was a pretty busy but very fun weekend! 🙂

What did you do this weekend? Have you ever done a triathlon? Do you like sushi?
