Myakka Half Marathon Training Week 3: 10/16-10/22

Whew! Another week has come and gone and we are almost done with October! How did that happen? Linking up again with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap!

Sunday, October 16: Today was a nothing day. Sometimes we need those right? I enjoyed lounging around and just relaxing.

Monday, October 17: This was the day the “shit hit the fan” so to speak. I found out some things with work that made it quite a crazy week- shift changing, scheduling lapses and all other manner of craziness. That being said, I still managed to get to go on the fun run tonight with the group- which is good because otherwise I’m not sure I would have gotten the chance to run this week! We did our normal 5k route over the bridge and back. It was quite fun! Afterwards our Oofos rep gave away four pair of Oofos sandals to some lucky winners. See? It pays to run with us! 😉

Tuesday, October 18: I ended up going into work tonight to cover a shift lapse in the schedule, so I didn’t get to run like I planned.

Wednesday, October 19: Once again, worked a double. Like I said- this week was full of work and not much else haha. However, I did get some good news this week that will lead to an announcement coming up on the blog sometime (hopefully) this week- so stay tuned for that!

Thursday, October 20: Today I worked a double, but I was recruited to help with the training group from our store. Since we now only have one coach, there were a few sessions she couldn’t be there for, so I took over a few of those days. Today we went out to celery fields, pretty much the only hill in my town, to do some hill sprint work. We ran a 2 mile warmup and then sprinted uphill 5-6 times. Whew! What a workout!

Friday, October 21: I received the best news I’ve had in a long time tonight- I can’t share it yet, but it really made me super happy! Then I headed up to Dade City to do a photo shoot for Savage race. A little preview of what we did is below- I can’t share “official” pics yet either because they are using them for some promotional material and we aren’t allowed to share them on social media yet. But it was fun getting to play on some of their new obstacles! It made me sad that I would have to miss race weekend, but I couldn’t get this weekend off of work, so I had to stay home.

Saturday, October 22: I got up early this morning to be at the store to support the training group. I ended up running a middle distance run of 5 miles because I was planning a longer run Sunday. It was so cool and breezy outside- it felt amazing! This was the first time in quite a while I had a “rating” this good for my run. (I use the Outsider app on iOS and it gives me a rating 1-10 for the conditions of my runs. It’s really a brilliant app!) Anyway, I was super excited to get this kind of weather and be able to wear some of my Skirt Sports cooler weather items. Today I wore the Jette Capri pants.

Total Weekly Mileage: 11 miles

I didn’t exactly get the weekly mileage I wanted this week, but I guess it was an ‘unofficial’ taper for South Carolina next weekend?

This week was pretty crazy work wise and I was super busy, but now I think I’m all caught up on what I missed! I’m looking forward to this coming week- I only have to work four days and then I am headed to South Carolina this weekend for the Spartan Beast! I can’t wait to be out running in the mud again!

How did your week go? Ever feel so busy you can’t even stop and think sometimes?

  1. Wow Oofos are a great giveaway and expensive one but that is awesome!
Now you really have my curiosity peeked for your upcoming announcement! The Weather Channel app has a similar rating for running weather. Although I often forget to look at it. 🙁 You did great dodging all the things life threw at you. Good luck in SC this weekend!

    1. Thank you! I’m in the process of writing my post including my news- I’ll link with you guys and then you’ll be able to see it 😉 I think the Outsider app is by the Weather Channel but I might be mistaken. I love it though, it really helps set the tone for my runs!

    1. I would say so too! Unfortunately this weekend was spent driving back and forth from South Carolina. Of course I enjoyed the things I did while there, but I think my nothing day will have to wait until next Sunday! 😮

  2. HA! Being busy. Yes, I know a thing or two about that. That may be the most valid reason (excuse) that my kitchen counter is constantly piled with mail that no one wants to sort through. And why I have yet to deal with all the remaining tomatoes from the garden…they’re sitting on the counter, too. I love my Oofos! They are so comfy!!

    1. Oh my gosh, yes, my kitchen counter gets overloaded too! And I feel like I’m constantly doing things at the last minute! But I wouldn’t have it any other way- I think I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I had more than one day to relax at a time!

  3. Your work week does sound crazy busy! But that is exciting about the news that is the best news you’ve had in a while (whatever it may be:) ) Hope it made up for all the craziness!
I hear you about a busy life, I went back to school and fulltime student and I feel somedays I am drowning in homework and projects it’s crazy! But good too:)
Hope you have a less busy week this week!!!

    1. Thanks! My life has been crazy for a while but it’s about to calm down a bit, so hopefully I can get a new routine going. This is why I have a smart phone haha- reminders so I don’t forget things!

    1. Yes, it’s so amazing! Said as a hot front comes through lol. Seriously I think Florida was just playing with us.

  4. Wow. A Spartan Race would be sooooo out of my comfort zone. But, I plan to live vicariously through you and can’t wait to read all about it. My work is crazy and stressful right now and I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t imagine working double shifts. I’m brain dead after 8 hours. Good luck in South Carolina. Thanks for linking,

    1. Thanks! Years ago Spartan was out of my comfort zone too, but I’ve come to love the obstacle races. They are really fun and definitely keep you entertained! I feel brain dead after 8 hours too, but somehow I manage 😉 Thanks for hosting!

    1. Pretty soon that won’t be an issue, but I try to work around my hectic schedule as much as possible! I just got the email for the real shots today- can’t wait to sift through them!
