This week was insane! But first, I have some good news to share with you- I hinted about it in my last post but now I can make it official…I became the store manager at Fit2Run in downtown Sarasota! If you follow me/are my friend on Facebook you probably already saw my announcement. I had to wait until I had actually signed the contract to make it official. However, this is super cool because it means I will go back to one job and finally give up the double shift life AND it means I have a job that I beyond love, which is something I’ve been waiting to have for years it seems! Let’s talk about my week last week in training now! Linking up with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap!
Sunday, October 23: Enjoyed a beautiful 8 mile run in a new area with the Fit2Run crew. This run was full of “therapy” talk, news and some really awesome views! It was a much needed run.
Monday, October 24: I was planning on running the fun run with the downtown crew (my store, yay!) but then we had some staffing issues and I ended up staying in the store that night. It was nice to relax tonight though.
Tuesday, October 25: Went to UTC to run with the Fit2Run crew there. I did 4 miles @ 10:30 pace. And I rocked my newest addition to the Pro Compression sock family 🙂 Afterwards we went to Burger & Beer joint to celebrate my promotion and Jennifer getting her new apartment. It was nice to hang out and enjoy the running family!
Wednesday, October 26: Worked a double tonight, so no run.
Thursday, October 27: Today was my first “full” shift at Fit2Run. Since I’ve been working part time, I’m usually not there during the day. I stayed all day today though and really learned how busy it can be as a manager! I love it though. After I got off work I went to help the training crew at the track. Most of us did “light” track workouts because all of us had races we planned for this coming weekend. My workout was 800m warmup, 400 m fast (8:55 pace), 400 m easy (10:35 pace), 800 m tempo (9:13 pace), 800 m tempo (9:07 pace), 400 m easy (10:28 pace), 200 m x 2 fast (8:13 pace), and an 800 m cooldown.
Friday, October 28: Spent the day driving to South Carolina! We intended to get on the road at 10 am but I had a work issue I had to go deal with so we didn’t end up leaving until almost noon. Then it took us forever to get out of Florida due to all the construction around the Ocala/Gainsville area. We finally made it to our hotel at almost 11pm. Then I got #allthesleep.
Saturday, October 29: RACE DAY! I’ll save the details for my official race recap later this week, but overall it was a good race. Extremely difficult, but then again it’s the furthest I’ve ever run and I never deal with that much elevation gain! Let’s just say I was super sore when this race was done. It was a really rewarding experience and I would love to do a Beast again at some point. I’m not sure when due to scheduling, but I’ll find one!
This week was definitely my highest mileage week, thanks in large part to the Spartan Beast on Saturday. I was super excited to end my month at 81 miles though! I highly doubt I’ll get that high in November or December- like I said, the Beast played a huge part in that as it was almost 20 miles in one run. But now I’m starting to understand how marathon runners log so much mileage! My week ended up with 33 miles, which was also my highest week in training ever. I don’t know how much running I’ll get in this week due to being at the expo in Orlando working all week and not really knowing routes or what time I’ll be free in the evenings/mornings. But I’m going to try to get in a shakeout run Wednesday evening or Thursday morning at least! Then it’s the Wine n Dine 10k this coming Saturday!
How did your week go? Have you ever worked a race expo before? What’s your highest mileage week/month so far?
